Thai Turkey Lettuce Wraps

Some days everything goes as planned. Some days, not so much. On those days, ordering take out can be so tempting. But I have another solution.

Looking for an easy weeknight recipe? My recipe for Thai Turkey Lettuce Wraps will fit the bill. From fridge to table, it’ll be ready in just 20 minutes.

So, after a long day, skip the takeout and make this recipe for a fresh and healthy dinner instead.

Make it a Family Affair

For some bonding time, make it a family affair. The older kids can help with chopping while the younger ones squeeze the limes and seed the peppers.

While you’re making it, talk with the kids about the benefits of bell peppers and cilantro. Bell peppers are rich in Vitamin C, which is an essential nutrient that helps with immunity and inflammation. And research suggests cilantro is good for your heart. The phytochemicals in cilantro can ward off oxidative damage to your heart.

Choose Your Protein

The recipe calls for ground turkey, but ground or chopped chicken, thin cuts of steak, or white fish work just as well.

Use Fresh Lime

Have you ever decided to make a recipe that calls for fresh lime juice but forgot to buy limes? If you’ve resorted to using packaged lime juice you may have noticed the slightly bitter taste. To keep this meal light and fresh tasting, stick with freshly squeezed lime juice.


I always encourage making extras for leftovers to eat the following day to save time and effort. In fact, this meal is an excellent choice for meal planning and prepping!

This recipe will keep for 1 – 2 days in an air-tight container. To avoid wilting, store the lettuce separate from the filling. When you’re ready to eat, heat the filling (approximately 1 and a half minutes on high in the microwave or reheated on the stove top) then create the wraps.

Thai Turkey Lettuce Wraps

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Servings: 4


  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 2 medium bell peppers, seeded and chopped
  • 1/4 cup packed fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 cup packed fresh mint leaves, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 4 – 6 large lettuce leaves
  • 3 tbsp lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Sriracha hot sauce, to taste


  1. In a skillet on medium-high heat, warm oil. Cook the peppers for 2 minutes, add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  2. Add turkey and fish sauce. Cook until meat is cooked, approx. 5 minutes, breaking up the meat.
  3. Remove pan from heat. Stir in cilantro and mint. Add lime juice and sugar and stir to mix.
  4. Serve in lettuce leaves and top with a splash of hot sauce. Enjoy!
